Location:
Kyambura Gorge is a 100-meter-deep gorge with lush tropical vegetation, located in the far eastern corner of Queen Elizabeth National Park, one of Uganda’s most visited national parks. The gorge is famous for its chimpanzees, but it is also home to other primates, mammals, and over 332 bird species.
Why it’s called the Valley of Apes:
Kyambura Gorge is often referred to as the Valley of Apes because of the chimpanzee population that resides there. It is considered the second-best place for chimpanzee trekking in Uganda, after Kibale Forest National Park. The gorge’s dense tropical forest provides a natural habitat for primates, birds, and wildlife, making it a prime ecotourism destination.
