Enjoy an amazing walk through the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest and spend a memorable one hour with the Gorillas. After the trekking, you will be transferred to the famous lake Bunyonyi, an area where one can relax after the gorilla trekking adventure.
Bwindi Impenetrable National Park was gazetted in 1991 and declared a UNESCO natural world heritage site in 1994. The Mubare gorilla group was the first to become available for trekking in Uganda in April 1993. Nine groups are now habituated for trekking. And one for research spread over a series of steep ridges and valleys. Bwindi is the source of the five major rivers which flow into Lake Edward.
Detailed Day-by-Day Itinerary
Follow the journey through each exciting day of your adventure
Day 1: Transfer from Kampala to Bwindi NP.
After an early breakfast, you will meet your driver guide and start off early drive and for your gorilla trekking adventure. The journey is likely to take about 8-10 hours characterized with stopovers, toilet breaks and photo shoot. Especially as you approach the Kigezi highlands of Kabale or Kisoro region. Lunch will be en-route depending on your driver guide’s decision. You will arrive in the evening ready for relaxation and a dinner at night.Day 2: Gorilla trekking and bird watching.
You will have an early full and heavy breakfast around 7:00am in the morning before your driver guide transfers you to the park briefing area. Where you will be handed over to the ranger guide for briefing and after you will enter into the forest in search for the gorillas. Besides gorillas, this impenetrable forest is full of birds with over 350 species recorded. Including 23 endemics such as the short-tailed warbler, Shelly’s crimson wing easy to sport are the African emerald cuckoo, red headed blue bill. Also, to see are the butterflies and plant species, forest elephants’ duikers. And so many monkey’s species such as blue monkey, colobus etc. Enjoy the walk through the forest and spend one hour around with the gorillas. After the trekking, you will be transferred to the famous Lake Bunyonyi; An area where one can relax after the gorilla activity, to try and cut the time tomorrow for the journey back to Kampala or EntebbeDay 3: Transfer back to Kampala or Entebbe.
On this day we look forward to transfer back to Kampala or Entebbe after breakfast at our overnight lodge. We shall have lunch at Mbarara town, the biggest town in western Uganda. Mbarara is also called the land of milk with its trademark of the long-horned cattle. Arrival in Kampala or Entebbe will be late evening or for a late-night flight back to your motherland. As the saying goes, ‘east or west home is best’.What's Included
