Accommodation in Uganda: Hotels, Lodges & Safari Camps
Uganda has a wide range of accommodation to suit all pockets and tastes – from five-star hotels and first-class luxury lodges and camps to rustic bush camps, guesthouses, campsites, and community homesteads. Whatever the category, Ugandan hospitality is the common thread: a smile and a genuinely warm welcome run deep in the culture.
Hotels in Kampala and beyond
Hotels in Uganda do not have to be expensive – a reasonably good room can cost as little as $50 a night. Options range from 5-star city hotels in the heart of Kampala to hotel complexes on the shores of Lake Victoria or on Muyenga Hill overlooking the city, with a small number of boutique hotels offering a more intimate experience. Central Kampala’s larger hotels are perfect for business trips and conferences – why not add a safari after your conference? – while downtown Kampala offers cheaper options for backpackers and budget travellers. There are hotels of varying standards in all major towns.
Safari lodges and camps
All the national parks and major tourist sites have hotels, camping sites, or both. Safari lodges in Uganda are typically small-scale – often a maximum of eight rooms – offering unique locations and genuine ambiance. We visit and monitor the lodges we book regularly, so we can match each property to your budget and style.
Camping in Uganda
Although dedicated campsites are few, it is usually possible to camp in the grounds of most lodges (best confirmed before your trip starts). Camping charges generally run $5–$10 a night, and you can bring your own tent or buy or hire one in Kampala.
Let us recommend and book your Uganda hotels and lodges – we are on the ground and know the properties first-hand. Start planning your safari.
