Overview
The 6 Days Rwanda Volcanoes Hiking Tour takes you to summit three of the five Virunga volcanoes u2013 Mount Karisimbi, Mount Bisoke and Mount Muhavura u2013 within Volcanoes National Park. Karisimbi, at about 4,507m, is the highest of the Virunga volcanoes; Bisoke (3,700m) holds a stunning crater lake in its perfect cone; and Muhavura (4,127m), on the Rwandau2013Uganda border, rewards hikers with sweeping views and its own summit crater lake. Along these forested slopes you may even glimpse mountain gorillas on a lucky day.

Day-by-Day Itinerary

Transfer to Musanze
Meet your driver guide around Lake Kivu for a short briefing and transfer to Musanze (2u20133 hours) with stopovers along the way. Dinner and overnight at La Palme Hotel. Meal Plan: Dinner.

Hiking Mount Karisimbi (Day 1)
After breakfast, drive to the Kinigi park headquarters at 7:00 am for briefing, then begin the strenuous but rewarding climb of Mount Karisimbi. The ascent takes 6u20138 hours via the Bisoke side to the first camp at 3,700m for overnight camping. Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner.

Karisimbi Summit & Descent
Hike to the summit for great views of the crater lake and surrounding Virunga volcanoes, then descend with lunch en route and transfer to your hotel for an evening at leisure. Dinner and overnight at La Palme Hotel. Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner.

Hiking Mount Bisoke
After breakfast and a 7:00 am briefing at Kinigi, climb Mount Bisoke (6u20138 hours) through bamboo, Hagenia-Hypericum forest and Senecio-Lobelia bush to the summit crater lake. Return in the afternoon. Dinner and overnight at La Palme Hotel. Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner.

Hiking Mount Muhavura
After breakfast and briefing, climb Mount Muhavura (6u20138 hours) to its summit crater lake, with views across the Virunga region. Descend for overnight. Dinner and overnight at La Palme Hotel. Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner.

Transfer to Kigali
After breakfast, transfer to Kigali for lunch and a visit to the Kigali Genocide Memorial, then tour the city before being dropped at your hotel. Meal Plan: Breakfast & Lunch.
