This 16 Days Mount Meru & Kilimanjaro Northern Circuit is the ultimate Tanzanian mountaineering expedition – acclimatising on the summit of Mount Meru (4,566m) before tackling Africa’s highest peak, Mount Kilimanjaro (5,895m), via the scenic and remote Northern Circuit route, the longest and highest-success path to Uhuru Peak.
Arrive and transfer to Moshi for briefing and preparation.
Begin the Mount Meru climb, ascending through forest to Miriakamba Hut.
Climb to Saddle Hut with an acclimatisation walk to Little Meru.
Summit Mount Meru (4,566m) at sunrise, then descend to Miriakamba Hut.
Descend to Momella Gate and transfer back to Moshi.
A rest and recovery day before the Kilimanjaro climb.
Begin the Kilimanjaro Northern Circuit via the Lemosho route.
Ascend onto the Shira Plateau.
Trek to Moir Hut with acclimatisation gains.
Follow the quiet Northern Circuit to Pofu Camp.
Continue to Third Cave camp.
Ascend to School Hut, the summit base.
Summit via Gilman’s Point to Uhuru Peak (5,895m) at sunrise, then descend to Mweka Camp.
Final descent to Mweka Gate and transfer to Moshi.
Transfer to Kilimanjaro International Airport for departure.
