Overview
The 1 Day Ngamba Island Chimpanzee Sanctuary Tour is the best chimpanzee day tour in Uganda, visiting the only island sanctuary that serves as a refuge for orphaned chimpanzees rescued from the bush meat and illegal pet trade. Set on 95 acres of natural forest on Lake Victoria, about 23km southeast of Entebbe, Ngamba is home to around 50 chimpanzees who roam and forage freely. Watch a feeding, take a guided sanctuary tour and enjoy a scenic boat cruise across the lake.

Day-by-Day Itinerary

Transfer & Boat to Ngamba Island
Pick-up from Kampala or Entebbe and transfer to the Uganda Wildlife Education Centre to board your boat. Enjoy a roughly 2-hour scenic cruise across Lake Victoria to Ngamba Island.

Chimpanzee Feeding & Guided Tour
Watch a morning or afternoon chimpanzee feeding and take a guided tour of the sanctuary, with plenty of time for photography of these orphaned chimps in their forest home.
