A night nature walk in Nyungwe Forest National Park reveals a completely different side of the rainforest. This guided after-dark experience lets visitors discover the forest’s nocturnal creatures that remain hidden during daytime walks.

The experience

Guided night walks typically set out in the early evening and last around two to three hours along the forest edge. Armed with torches and led by a knowledgeable guide, you search for nocturnal wildlife such as bushbabies, tree hyrax, chameleons, frogs, insects and night birds, while the sounds of the forest come alive around you.

What to bring

Warm layers, sturdy shoes and a head torch are recommended, as the forest cools quickly after dark. The walk is gentle and suitable for most visitors.
