Overview

Bwindi Impenetrable National Park lies in southwestern Uganda at the edge of the Great Rift Valley, bordering the Democratic Republic of Congo. This 331 square kilometer forest earned its name from its dense tropical vegetation. Deep within, visitors encounter mountain gorilla families in their natural habitat—an experience described as moving and unforgettable.

DETAILED ITINERARY

Day 1: FLY TO BWINDI IMPENETRABLE NATIONAL FOREST

Arrive at Entebbe International Airport and take a domestic flight to Kihihi Airstrip, the closest airport to Bwindi. Upon arrival, our driver guide will transfer you to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. Check-in at your accommodation and rest for the next day’s adventure.

Overnight: Volcanoes Lodge Bwindi


Day 2: GORILLA TREKKING

Wake early for breakfast before heading to park headquarters for a gorilla trekking briefing covering dos and don’ts. You’ll be assigned to a gorilla group based on fitness level. Begin the trek with experienced guides and trackers through the dense forest. Once you locate your gorilla family, spend up to one hour observing these magnificent creatures from a safe distance—an incredible, unforgettable experience. After the trek, return to your lodge to relax. Optional activities include a guided nature walk or cultural visit to local communities.

Day 3: OPTIONAL ACTIVITIES AND DEPARTURE

Choose from several options: explore Bwindi’s natural beauty through a nature walk or scenic trail hike, or enjoy a cultural encounter with local communities such as the Batwa pygmies to learn about their traditional lifestyle, dances, and crafts. After lunch, check out and drive back to Kihihi Airstrip for your domestic flight to Entebbe International Airport.
